Coco Avant Chanel

I saw Coco Avant Chanel the other day.
I have the utmost respect for her---Coco. I think that she was the perfect person to be born at that time and revolutionized fashion for women. She was talented and smart as a whip.

After reading some of what had been written about her, the movie didn't tell the accurate depiction of her, but the essence of who/what she was, was captured in the movie.

And Audrey Tautou was amazing.

ps: When [young] Coco was altering and wearing mens clothes---I immediately thought of you ^_^

"Combo"

"Blu, the innovative street artist who brought us the viralicious wall-painted animation MUTO, is at it again. Just recently, Blu teamed up with David Ellis and together they made COMBO." - BoingBoing.net

Wicked isn't it... I've always wanted to work in a huge space and create something like this. And make a vid like this.

ps: I hope things are well =) I finished my proposal paper and handed it in today. I am now working on my draft.

Wicked animation.

Toulouse-Lautrec pour toi.

For about two weeks now I have been following a wonderful
documentary series on the infamous Henry de Toulouse-Lautrec.
He has taken me around the most famous quartiers du Paris,
through the filthiest pubs and brothels, to the most magnificent
underground scenes with singers, songwriters and larger than
life characters such as Oscar Wilde.
It has been two smoky, wine filled and intriguing weeks for me.
But most importantly he has taken me to his atelje.

I got to know that Henry adored girls who loved girls.

And sad, forgotten prostitutes.

But most of all he loved all ladies of red hair.
According to him we smell different to other
women. And that I thought was beautiful.

Karl Lagerfeld

I think you'll like this documentary.
K. Lagerfeld, he talks about relationships (i.e. friendship, partnership, etc...), life, and of course, art.

It fascinated me, throughout.
K.L. is a very interesting person and I think that after watching this you'll get a gist of what he is.
It may not tell you a lot of about himself, but rather the documentarians fascination of him, still you'll get something out of it.

Also, the way Rodolphe Marconi shot this documentary is just beautiful - very artistic.
He followed K.L. for two years and I thought the cinematography was just gorgeous and well done.
I like R.M.'s style.

Let me know what you think of it...

I adore cool commercial

I got this habit after mi dear Auntie.
We appreciate the creativity of people who make these...
Think about, creating something that will only last for 30 seconds or less that has to convey something to the audience, or else... well nothing will come of it, except buzzzzzz in their heads and confusion.

Anyway, some are downright cheesy but if you look hard enough and the patience, there are some pretty awesome commercials on TV that are worth checking out - like this recent Toyota Prius Commercial.

Poem for You

Poem by Bukowski

some people are young and nothing
else and
some people are old and nothing
else
and some people are in between and
just in between.

and if the flies wore clothes on their
backs
and all the buildings burned in
golden fire,
if heaven shook like a belly
dancer
and all the atom bombs began to
cry,
some people would be young and nothing
else and
some people old and nothing
else and
some people old and nothing
else,
and the rest would be the same
the rest would be the same.

the few who are different are eliminated quickly enough
by the police, by their mothers, their
brothers, others; by
themselves.

all that's left is what you
see.

it's
hard.

I absolutely adore these images
by Pamela Klaffke.
They are called the
Bestia parvulus
as in 'animal child'.

I think they just look so much like..
highschool for some reason.
And so beautiful most of all.

?

What are you listening to nowadays? In dire need of new tunes.

There's this coffee shop in the Mission, just a few minutes drive from our abode called - Four Barrel. Ma cherie, you'd adore this place. In my book, just about on the same range as Blue Bottle (which is another coffee addict paradise) - both exceptional.

Anyway, we've been going there lately... and they've been playing music by Led Zeppelin and David Bowie. I got hooked! And now Mr. Bowie is part of my iList.

Ars.

I did not cook for free last week.
The theatre camp just paid me in food for thought.
Not the food you eat like she says my beautiful miss Badu.

We took a ferry to beautiful Viapori.
It is almost heartbreakingly pretty right?
Somehow so Finnish.

We walked through the catacombs.
Wondered over all the lost souls.
The stories and the pasts that we no longer know of.

Quite amazing I thought.
We were met by an old man and his fellow.

They had things to say.
I think it was from Shakerpeare's The Tempest.
Myrsky.
Le Tempete.

Contact improvisation.

Peoples. Mens and womens.

We got some more viewers.
See them?
On top of the hill.
Them shy peoples.

Clowns.

After this the group got naked and I put my camera down.

The group minus their French director.

Pauliina and Pekka were not quite sure what to think.
But I will tell you that we had a lot to talk about on the way back.
Mostly we discussed..you know..those parts.
Of the show that is.
It may not have been the most art of the month but I was proud.
They did well the little Frenchies and the Finnies.
Naked and all.
