Strolling

Someday, if I end up having a backyard, I'd like to own a chair just like this one =) So pretty.

This in Mission Bay near where we live. There's a lot of communities here in SF that's being cleaned up and restored [gentrification].

Dirty words.

What

P.S Please vote.

But I'm not a soldier.

The other night my boi and I
came to thinking
about souls.

I told him my soul was to be found deep in
my belly.
(I later discovered I might have confused it
with the Essence of Life.)

My love then told me
that his soul
can be found
on his
shoulders
back
arms

where his strength lies.

So I ask you,
where is your soul?

she´s like a drug

Family Ties
The Elephants of Samburu

By David Quammen

'Of the 900 elephants that pass through Samburu National Reserve, scientists David Daballen and Daniel Lentipo can each recognize about 500 individuals on sight. Having watched births, matings, deaths, and group behavior over time, they also know the family histories.
Daballen can tell you, for instance, that this magnificent female on the south bank of the river, so huge she looks like a bull, is Babylon, matriarch of the Biblical Towns;
that she's nearly 50 years old; and that her breasts are full because that's her young calf standing nearby, along with her older daughter and her granddaughter.
He can point out a youngish female limping piteously on three legs and explain that she's Babel, of the same family, probably crippled when she was mounted too young by a bull; but that the other Biblical Towns, taking their cue from old Babylon, move slowly so that Babel can stay with them.'

This I found extremely touching.
Did you?
Why don't you go and read it here
And love it.

Sad Note

Today, Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, a great man, amazing actor, philantropist (all of the profits from his Food Company called Newman's Own, goes to charities), loving husband (married to Joanne Woodward, with whom he had one of Hollywood's rare long-term marriages. "I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" Newman told Playboy magazine when asked if he was tempted to stray), passed away at the age of 82.

Just because...

Golden Gate Park, SF, CA

I was desperately in need for some fresh air...
I took my camera and headed to the park.

To my surprise, apparently the California Academy of Science [you'd love this place] is opening tomorrow. It has been renovated.

If you can, check out the structure of this building - "
197,000-square-foot rooftop to accommodate a living tapestry of native plant species".

This is the De Young Museum. Funky architecture. The top of the tower is accessible and the view is pretty spectacular, 360 degree view of the City.

Little Advice about (what else?) Fashion from Vanity Fair

Edith Head's Fashion Commandments

DON'T let your clothes be fitted too tightly.
Even a perfect figure looks better if it doesn't resemble a sausage.
Only bathing suits should "fit tight."

DON'T wear a date dress when you're arriving for a day's work at the office.
The dressy dress, the low-necked lacy blouse, the glitter sweater, all of the glitter category belong to after-dark.

DON'T be too different.
You don't want to dress like the herd, but you don't want to look like a peacock in a yard full of ducks. Being too much an individualist is not being well dressed.

DON'T feel that when you're going to a party you must look "dressed-up" ---
a simple dress is safer if there's a question of what to wear, and you will be much more comfortable simply dressed than overdressed.

DON'T be afraid to wear a becoming costume many, many times.
It's an old-fashioned idea that you haveto have a new dress for every occassion or party. Even if you have the money to do so, it isn't necessary. The modern approach is to change accessories.

Random

GBLT flag and the fog looming in.

Ahlo, gorgeous =)

Halloween is just around the corner, what/who are you going to be...

Now that we moved, whenever I take the train, I pass by the Bay and this bridge daily - one of the many reasons why I heart the City.

Mon frere the Best brother in the world (when not being obnoxious, j/k!)

He started college a few days ago. So very proud of him =))). And such a sweetheart.

Went to a Tapas restaurant called Bocadillo. But because we arrived early, we decided to go for a walk in Chi-Town. This place makes the best custard (supposedly - I'm not the right person to ask, not so fond of custard), anyway they always make it fresh. It's always still warm, fresh out of the oven when serving.

This is the 'custard'.

Montgomery Station

Obviously New Zealand only changes certain people. Glad you're not one of them =)

This one really cracked me up. Went looking like a trailer trash, came back looking fresh =). All trailer trash and valley girls should be sent to New Zealand, for some breath of fresh air.

In my station, or should I say, in my previous rail station, these were all over the place. An advertisement about New Zealand. I think it speaks for itself. I thought it was hilarious.
