[To the Sea]

This is a docudrama about a boy and his father.

About love, loss, and the sea.

Simply done, yet very satisfying in a way.

It's a meditation on life.

When you have the time... check it out.

I'm beginning to really like Sofia Coppola and her film style.

The trailer above is her latest movie--can't wait to see it!

Never Let Me Go

Based on the novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, Never Let Me Go.

I can't wait to see this in the cinema.

Joni Mitchell

Saw a documentary about Joni Mitchell the other night.

She broke through the music industry in the 60s.

The 60s is one of my favorite era.

Amazing artist.

In the wonderful world of Maira Kalman.

If I were ever to write a list of my favourite illustrators then this
lady would definitely find herself on it. Not that I assume that she
would ever have the time or need to look at any of my millions
of lists ( I am a list maker ). But just saying.
I just adore her work.

"The Thin Red Line" by Terrence Malick

I'm not a big fan of war movies - I can't handle gory scenes and inhumanity of it, too much for me. Whenever I'm watching this sort of films my eyes are covered most of the time.

However, there is this movie that Mikey-Ike highly recommended I see, called The Thin Red Line by Terrence Malick.

I've come to conclusion that Terrence Malick is one of all time favorite movie director. He also directed The New World, my other favorite film.

The movie The Thin Red Line is a must see.
It's a war movie and there are bloodshed scenes. But this movie is none other like war movies out there.

***a 1998 war film which tells a fictional story of United States forces during the Battle of Guadalcanal in World War II with the focus on the men in C Company, most notably Private Witt (Jim Caviezel) and his conflicted feelings about fighting in the war, Colonel Tall (Nick Nolte) and his desire to win the battle at any cost in order to get a promotion, and Private Bell (Ben Chaplin) and the dissolution of his marriage back home while he fights in the war. - Wiki

Coco Avant Chanel

I saw Coco Avant Chanel the other day.

I have the utmost respect for her---Coco. I think that she was the perfect person to be born at that time and revolutionized fashion for women. She was talented and smart as a whip.

After reading some of what had been written about her, the movie didn't tell the accurate depiction of her, but the essence of who/what she was, was captured in the movie.

And Audrey Tautou was amazing.

ps: When [young] Coco was altering and wearing mens clothes---I immediately thought of you ^_^
