Love, love, love.

Lex & Loren - Engagement/Save the date! from Brinton Films on Vimeo.

If this isn't the cutest thing then I don't really know what is!
I found it here. Not that I am getting married anytime soon
but I did notice how close to your neck of the woods this lady
is as she seems to be based in California. You are all such
whimsical little people down (up?) there. Maybe it runs in the
water..

Love,

Alamar

[To the Sea]
This is a docudrama about a boy and his father.
About love, loss, and the sea.

Simply done, yet very satisfying in a way.
It's a meditation on life.

When you have the time... check it out.

Me and My Java

Morning coffee at Tartine.

Perfect timing, usually this place is swarming with people--- people lined up out the door.
We came in just right on time...

It was nice just to talk and 'relax'.
And listening to Willie Nelson =) Most of the time they have cool tracks playing in the background.

I heart their scone---perfect texture and scrumptious.
Butter croissant is so-so... I think what's putting me off is its huge size.

Tartine's mini bar.

*i promise next time, that hideous hair will be chopped off.

What's for Lunch...?

It's been difficult lately...
Little treats, like having lunch at our favorite coffee shop helps a bit.

For lunch, we went to Blue Bottle.

We had, of course, a cup latte.

Mikey-Ike had a mortadella sandwich (not pictured).
And I had this simple but delicious cheese sandwich.
And... We tried their mediocre cookies (but hey, as my Dad would say, "it's better than nothing").
The snickerdoodle tasted like artificial vanilla.
However, the chocolate cookie was a hit; perfect with our latte =)

i hope things are well with you.

Forgetfulness.

Of all the beautiful action poetry in here I found this one to be my favourite!

It is a little film about the things we forget...all the time...

..how all these things pack up their bags and move to small
fishing villages in the back of our brains...

...things such as names of authors...quadratic equations...

....and even names of planets!

'' ...and the moon in the window seems to have drifted from a love poem you used to know. By heart.''

the Painted Veil

"Love and passion have important roles to play in forging a person's destiny and moral consciousness. No kidding. We all know this. Moreover, we're all interested in this. The hottest gossip is not about money or politics, but love and sex, and once upon a time movies knew this, too: The movie romance used to be Hollywood's most familiar product.

Today it's a rarity. We have romantic comedies, but in the course of any given year, there are very few (just two or three) serious romantic dramas. It's probably not without significance that the year's best, "The Painted Veil," based on the W. Somerset Maugham novel, is set in the past -- romances lose impact in eras in which sex is of incidental importance. In any case, "The Painted Veil" does what a romantic drama needs to do. It testifies to love as the great educator."

Hopeless Romantic

A Blind Date That Turned Into 60 Years

Morning Edition, October 10, 2008 ·
They've been together for over a half-century — but Ben and Bernice Finn met on a blind date. It was eight months after the end of World War II, and Ben had recently returned home to Brooklyn, N.Y., after serving in the Army.

"My two best friends were Hank and Eddie," Ben said. And unlike Ben, they both had girlfriends. So, the two asked Ben if he'd like to go out with them — and a blind date.

"In those days, you wore a suit and a tie when you went on a date," Ben said.

"I didn't have a suit to my name. So, I bought a suit to match the tie that I had."

That sparked a memory from Bernice: "Did it have apples on it?"

"It had apples on it, yes."

"I was very nervous," Ben said. "She was so pretty."

"I remember that day very well," Bernice said. "And no, you weren't pretty."

But when the couples all went out that night, there was a chill in the air.

"And I took your arm," Bernice said.

"I was thrilled by that," Ben said.

"And the reason I took your arm is, you seemed nervous. And I wanted to make you more comfortable."

The group went to a coffee shop, where they all started ordering hamburgers and drinks — everyone, that is, except for Ben. He didn't order anything.

"And I say to myself, 'Oh my God, I bet he doesn't have any money,' " Bernice remembered.

"And there I am, starving," she said. "And I ordered black coffee. Because I was afraid my date didn't have any money. So, you owe me a hamburger," she told Ben.

"I have no memory of that," Ben said. "Maybe it was I didn't have any money. Maybe I was just cheap. I don't know."

"Okay," Bernice said. "I'll buy that second explanation."

The couple dated for two years before getting married. Ben eventually got a master's degree in education and taught elementary school. The Finns have two children, Gail and Steven, and three grandchildren.

Their 60th wedding anniversary will be this Christmas, Dec. 25.

Mon frere the Best brother in the world (when not being obnoxious, j/k!)

He started college a few days ago. So very proud of him =))). And such a sweetheart.

Went to a Tapas restaurant called Bocadillo. But because we arrived early, we decided to go for a walk in Chi-Town. This place makes the best custard (supposedly - I'm not the right person to ask, not so fond of custard), anyway they always make it fresh. It's always still warm, fresh out of the oven when serving.

This is the 'custard'.
