Insatiable cravings --- cake run!

When Mikey-ike arrived, he told me about this particular cake.

As he was describing it to me, I was salivating and my head was screaming, "I want it now!"

I grabbed my canvas bag and off I went.

I only had 15 mins left before our grocery store closed.

I walked fast.

When I got to there, I immediately went straight to the pastry case.

I asked for it and I didn't care if it wasn't perfect (the side of the cake was brushed off, just a little bit).

I took the cake.

Just to make sure, I checked my bag if my wallet was in it...

... wah! Wallet? NOT inside! =/// Major headache coming on...

I looked at my phone, and I only had about 8 mins left, before they closed.

I thought for a sec.. and I decided that I could make it.

So, I ran and ran --- 8 sets of stairs!

I was huffing and puffing by the time I reached the apt.

I grabbed my bloody wallet and ran back to the store.

Running back to the store was much easier, but still... all for a cake?!

And to top it all off, at the same time, I was having major cramps...

But victory was MINE! I got there just in time! Lol!

Still had 3 mins left!

Phew!

Here is my PRIZE...

Once a month I have these mad cravings.

This time, it was this Strawberry Chiffon Cake.

I was huffing and puffing just to get a taste of this goodness.

Light, creamy icing--not-too-sweet.

White chiffon cake--airy but moist.

Fresh strawberries---sweet and succulent.

I patted myself on the back for my efforts and ate my cake.

It was worth it (until my next craving).

Bake Sale at Kichenette

Started my Day with these treats.

KichenetteSF - "spontaneous, organic, covert, nourishment"
They are located near the Docks in a 'huge' warehouse.
Be there as soon as they Open, otherwise you'll be Sorry (they're open from 11:30am - until they run out...)
They don't serve the same thing everyday... Also, the chefs are apparently different everyday.

Earlier today, I found out that they were having a Bake Sale. When I saw the menu... I did not have the courage to refuse - I'm sorry =/. I am hopeless sometimes - no discipline.

Food Adventure

We were invited to a small dinner at Mikey-Ike's parents house down south.

It was very lovely and the food was amazing.
Mikey-Ike's Mum, is I think one of the best cook I've ever met - seriously!

She made us traditional American dinner.

Mashed Potatoe, Greens, and a huge steak - just what my tummy was craving for...


These twice baked potatoes are to die for! I crave for this...
Creamy and the texture is always just right.
And after eating mashed potatoe, the potatoe skin is delish to munch on.

Not sure if this is "traditional American," I learned to eat (from Mikey-Ike, he is part Latino) my steak with these: Jalapeno, horseradish, and salsa ^_^

Passion Fruit

I went to Rainbows grocery.

Initially my agenda was to look for dende oil (or palm oil) for this Brazilian dish I wanted to make.

As I was looking around, I saw these funny looking fruits. When I looked up I saw that what I was holding was a... (dragon fruit!). It made me smile looking at it.

Beside it was a Passion Fruit! *hallelujah* I went bananas! Actually, I felt like a light was shining on me - lol (i know cheesy)
Anyway, it was a bit expensive so I decided to just get one and see it how it is - I've never had it here.

The passion fruit on the left is the one I'm more familiar with. The one on the right was the one they had at the grocery store.

It was an ambrosia.

Sweet Breams

 Mikey-Ike has been raving about this ramen place down south (in San Mateo) 

The other day, he took me there.  

It was, by far, the best ramen I've ever had.

Not bland, at all.  It was fresh and delicious.  The meat didn't seem like it's been sitting on their counter for days - I know gross.

Japanese are hilarious and so-cute!

They're very innovative.

Fish school.

So basically, it's sort of like a waffle with filling inside.

Adorable isn't it...  I almost didn't want to eat it.  

*Remember - Yakitori!  =)))  I haven't found a place like that here =/  I thought the whole concept was brilliant.

Mike had the Scharffen Berger Chocolate filling.  And I had nutella.
